Hello everyone, a few random notes here from the drawing board, the street and all points in between. For October First Friday, I was printing a new addition to my series of Oakland-centric First Friday demo prints and to be honest the warmer than average weather mixed with the very dry air due to a fire nearby made printing very difficult. A small edition of the Dead Bars print was sold that night but look for the full signed and numbered stack to be let onto my Etsy store soon. I was really happy with the way this one turned out. Check it out, it may bring back some memories.
In other news I have a few tees due to come out soon in conjunction with DSF, a lower Haight mens and ladies clothing store with a great and well curated art print and show history. The guys at this shop are terrific and my first designs are almost complete. Looking forward to seeing them before the end of the month.
I am also doing a few commissioned print pieces before Halloween and there will be news on them and the folks they represent soon, both on the blog and facebook page. I am looking forward to getting some different print techniques pulled out for these, including a Risograph edition giving my arms a break.
In the aftermath of all this, or likely popping up at neat happy accidental moments will be another show print at some point. Trying to settle on a show in early November or December, and the proliferation of Rocktober releases and accompanying tours will likely make for some difficult choices in who to represent.
As I mentioned to several folks at the booth on Friday night, I am also participating in the great 4th annual East Bay Alternative Book and Zine Fest , held December 7th at the Berkeley City College. EBABZ is a really cool, still very DIY spirited event and I always HIGHLY recommend attending. It is a great place to do some holiday shopping for your loved ones and also find some new handmade and completely original books to expand your mind and your bookshelf. crumblediamonds is hard at work on its own 2nd edition of the Oddfellows art pastiche zine and hopefully another edition, both of which will be for sale along with prints and other merch at the fest.
The online store is ALWAYS open, so check in and see what's available. A second edition of my print for Bob Mould's solo show at the Swedish American Hall in SF is about to be posted and there are lots of great, affordable prints in there.
Hope everyone is having a killer Fall season, seeing some good live music, and enjoying their loved ones. Talk to you around Black Friday!
**LAST MINUTE NEWS FLASH** I just got word that my friends at the SubRosa Coffee shop on 40th Street are going to be doing a cool Fall Craft Fair right down on the sidewalk in front of the shop. This is a really cool event that I did two years ago in December ( last year's was cancelled due to rain ), and I cant recommend it more come down and say hey! I will have prints, zines, buttons and possibly more. Its Saturday, October 26 from 11am-4pm. More info here
Until then,
Jeff
